What to Include in Your Enquiry
The more context you can share up front, the faster I can give you a useful response. If you haven't already, it's worth skimming the engagement models on Work With Me and the About page first — that usually answers the obvious "fit" questions and lets us spend the email on substance. A few sentences against each of the following will let me triage and reply substantively rather than asking a string of follow-up questions.
- 1.The business. What does it do, what's the subscription or recurring revenue model, current ARR or MRR range, and how long has it been operating?
- 2.The challenge. The specific problem you're trying to solve — churn climbing, pricing not landing, payments leaking, fundraise approaching, exit on the horizon, or a strategic decision you want a second opinion on.
- 3.The shape of engagement you're considering. Single expert call, short consulting sprint, ongoing advisory, board role, fractional leadership, or investment conversation — even a rough sense helps.
- 4.Timing. When you need help, any deadlines that frame the decision, and your preferred way to start — async exchange, intro call, or a working session.
Response Time & Next Steps
I personally read every enquiry and aim to reply within 48 hours on weekdays. If your message lands over a weekend or while I'm travelling, expect a response on the next working day. I don't outsource initial replies to a team — every conversation starts directly with me, which is part of how I keep the quality of advisory work high.
For most engagements the next step is a 30-minute introductory call via Intro to confirm fit, scope the brief, and agree the right shape of engagement. For investment conversations or larger consulting briefs we'll typically exchange a few emails first to share materials before booking time. Either way you'll have a clear sense of the path forward — including whether I'm the right person to help, or whether someone in my network is a better fit — before any commitment is made.
